Abstract

North America’s Snow Leopard Species Survival Plan (SSP) collaborates with zoological institutions around the continent. The SSP through many different disciplines (population management, husbandry, veterinary, reproduction, designers, and education) strives to move the research and knowledge of snow leopards forward. Knowledge of the wild snow leopard is gaining momentum, but a great deal of information is still not known that the captive population can provide for this species. By maintaining a sustainable captive population in North America, the SSP could be crucial in saving this beautiful endangered species in the wild.
