Abstract

At present, there is a rapid growth of aging population groups worldwide, which results in serious economic and social problems. Therefore, there is substantial effort to prolong the active life of older people as long as possible. Since there is no effective pharmacological therapy which would prevent the onset of dementia, research also focuses on the efficacy of nonpharmacological approaches such as lifestyle factors. The purpose of this review study is to explore the issue of multinutrient intervention as one of the lifestyle modifiable risk factors in the prevention and treatment of dementia. The methods include a method of literature review of available sources, and a method of comparison of their findings. The results of this study indicate that the multinutrient approach to the prevention of dementia may be effective in the prevention of dementia. In addition, it is noninvasive, less costly and have none or fewer side effects.
