Abstract
For the growth of economy, industrial development is considered a prime factor. For the past several decades, industries are growing at a very fast rate; consequently, the rate of pollution increased several fold. There are various industries which directly discharged its effluent into the main stream of water. We all are aware that water is vital source for sustaining life. Various hazardous contaminants present in effluent, which imposes ill effects onto the human life, as well plant and aquatic life. Various heavy metals, inorganic contaminants like fluoride, Pollution Control Board, etc. have harmful effects to human life as well as aquatic animals. Wastewater treatment is the amalgam of various technologies which includes primary treatment, secondary treatment, and advanced treatment strategy. This chapter deals with the impact of fluoride contamination on environment as well the hybrid technology used for the treatment of wastewater.
