Abstract
Plant Beneficial Microbes, also known as Plant Growth Promoting Microbes (PGPMs) along with growth promotion can provide to plants enhanced tolerance to biotic and abiotic types of stress. Many aspects of PGPM’s multifaceted mode of action have been unveiled and PGPMs strains have been already exploited by agricultural industry as environmentally friendly bio-fungicides and bactericides. However, thus far, PGPMs have not been used against viruses in practice, despite an increasing number of publications showing that PGPMs can also provide different levels of antiviral protection. This chapter aims to address this issue through the presentation of the relevant to PGPMs antiviral action publications and the description of the proposed molecular mechanisms responsible.
