Abstract

This chapter introduces various characterization methods for various types of fiber-reinforced nanocomposites. It begins with a glimpse on the basic characterization techniques to obtain information regarding physical properties of the composites, extends through sophisticated analytical analysis as well as mechanical, rheological characterization, and finally includes special characterization tools along with few recent advancement of the techniques used to evaluate the performance of the composites specific to applications. Moreover this chapter highlights microstructural characterization of the composites in brief. In the last decade, several innovations have been seen in the armory of tools to image and analyze nanocomposites, as well as advancement in the ways to collect and process those results which is also discussed here. Throughout this chapter, specific discussions are focused on examples based on applications of the nanocomposites.
