Abstract

Biological contaminants include zooplankton, bacteria, viruses, fungi, insect pupae, rotifers, and protozoa. Since these microorganisms can contaminate water, air, food, etc., studying them is therefore very important. Infection and contamination by biological pollutants could be managed by several approaches such as filteration, chemical and biological drugs additives, and growth conditions changes. Biotechnology can also play an important role in this area as its methods are efficient and safe. Biological contaminants can be controlled through biological methods and there are many tools in this field. This chapter reviews the effects of biological contaminants in the biological contamination of water, air, and food, as well as different strategies used to control biological contaminants.
