Abstract

Currently, customization is an important factor in every component of our life, and food and nutrition are not exceptional. Urbanization enhanced the consumption of unbalanced high calories ready-to-eat foods, and an inadequate amount of fruits and vegetables lead to malnutrition and serious health complications. The prevalence of lifestyle diseases, particularly diet-related chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, overweight and obesity, type2 diabetes, and or nutrient deficiencies, are major challenging for every individual. Consumers are looking for science-based and data-driven nutritional solutions personalized to their specific targets to promote general health or disease prevention and management. Hence, nutritional interventions are receiving great attention, particularly “personalized nutrition”, due to limitations in the one-size-fits-all approach. Personalized nutrition is developing unique nutrition guidelines for each individual by utilizing individual-specific science-based evidence to promote change in the dietary pattern, resulting in measurable health benefits. Personalized nutrition helps to promote and maintain physical and emotional health and the prevention of diseases. The global personalized nutrition market is estimated to grow rapidly due to the boom in health care awareness and to move towards digital healthcare. Personalized nutrition is the future because of the diverse significance in human health beyond the supply of calories and nutrients.
