Abstract

It is noted that in Greece, three types of solar water heaters are known for their considerable development. The three types include thermosiphonic systems, large central solar systems, and compact collector systems. Specific manufacturing technologies are also developed or adapted to the particularities of various solar equipments such as enameling techniques, ultrasonic welding, and compact collector design. This chapter discusses these three types of solar water heaters and the manufacturing processes that are used to manufacture them. The manufacturing technologies include continuous ultrasonic welding, molding of plastic castings the compact collector, and adaptation of enameling techniques. The thermosiphonic systems heat either potable water or a heat transfer fluid and via the process of natural convection it is transported from the collector to the storage.
