Abstract

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) bundles and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) both share the focus of expediting functional recovery after surgery and improving surgical outcomes for patients. This chapter focuses on the specific recommendations guiding evidence-based ERAS implementation in MIGS. Recommendations for each stage of surgical care are reviewed including preoperative planning, intraoperative management, and postoperative care. Additional considerations unique to MIGS include the impact of same day discharge and challenges related to special patient populations (e.g., those with uterine fibroids, hormone use, chronic pain disorders, and/or opioid tolerance).
