Abstract
Today science and technology has revolutionized our digital world. Technology has showered blessing to mankind by improve communication around the world through the development of cell phone. But with the advancement of technology, the invention of the mobile phone has become a “curse” for the environment rather than a “blessing.” Global system for mobile communication (GSM) technology has significant impact on environment as it uses electro-magnetic frequency radiation (EMFr) ranging between 850 and 2100MHz. The radiation of cell phone affected the plant growth and development by altering cytogenetic configuration, physiological and metabolic processes. Several researches were done to find out the effects of cell phone on plant system. Present chapter trying to serve an overall summary by combining all the reported research information on possible effects of pollution generated by cell phone radiation on plant system. How cell phone radiation affects plant growth and subsequently plant production, how much physiological and genetical variation developed by this radiation and does a plant build up its immune system to relive stress caused by cell phone radiation will be the major focusing of this chapter.
