Abstract

Anatomically, the breast lies between the second and sixth ribs superiorly and inferiorly and between the midline and the axillary line. Level I, II, and III axillary lymph nodes (LNs) lie laterally, behind, and medial to the pectoralis minor muscle, respectively. The interpectoral nodes (rotter nodes) lie in between the pectoralis minor and pectoralis major muscles. The internal mammary LNs lie in the first three intercostal spaces adjacent to the sternum.
