Abstract

In this chapter, we take the slider lubrication problem as an example to give the calculation method and programs of lubrication failure. Three kinds of fluid with the limit shear stress are included. That is, viscos-plastic fluid, buckling fluid and circular fluid. Their pressure distributions are calculated by using the separated flow velocity method. With the pressure distribution, other lubrication properties can be easily obtained. For example, the load carrying capacity can be obtained by numerically integrating the pressure distribution to judge whether lubrication failure occurs or not.
