Abstract

This chapter includes nonstandard methods of seismic processing, such as f-x deconvolution, median filter, instantaneous attributes, time-variant spectral whitening (TVSW) and trace mixing. It contains several real and synthetic data examples to demonstrate the effect of these methods, mainly on the improvement of seismic data quality and signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio. Effects of the parameter selection for each method are also illustrated with specific data examples. This chapter also includes a particular section for amplitude vs. offset (AVO) analyses, which shows the concept of AVO analysis, AVO equations, AVO classes, appropriate processing of the seismic data for AVO analyses, gradient analysis, AVO attributes and AVO crossplots. It also introduces the basic concept of interpretation for AVO gradient analysis and crossplot results with real seismic data examples.
