Abstract

The Arctic Ocean is changing at an unprecedented rate and expected to be more violent with the increased height of storm waves. Similarly, the water in the Arctic Ocean is changing owing to various factors such as warming at a doubled rate of the world, weakening of the ice cover at an accelerating rate, and increased supply of nutrients for Arctic life. Such fast-changing Arctic Ocean may emerge as an entirely new ocean in its characteristics. However, such a scenario may also offer many new opportunities and challenges to the Arctic Ocean. Such significant and interesting aspects of envisaged changes on the Arctic Ocean in the future are dealt in this chapter covering various opportunities, environmental risks, economics, and trade benefits to the stakeholders.
