Abstract
This chapter contains design charts for plain hydrostatic, hybrid, and aerostatic journal bearings. Data are given for slot-entry and hole-entry bearings. Guidance is given for pressure ratio, land-width ratio, power ratio, supply pressure, viscosity, gap tolerance, power requirements, and temperature rise. Part A deals with hybrid hydrostatic journal bearing design and Part B with aerostatic and hybrid aerostatic journal bearing design. It is shown that power ratio works equally well for design of both hybrid types. Step-by-step design procedures and worked examples are given.
