Abstract
Development of one dimensional (1D) nanomaterials for optoelectronic devices is the best approach toward low-cost technology development. This chapter provides an overview of recent advances in the development of 1D nanostructures for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). A variety of 1D metal oxides thin films were grown by simple cost-effective modified chemical routes and implemented in DSSCs. The nature of the electrode, surface area, and crystallinity of the materials are the key factors in DSSCs. In this chapter, we discuss the influence of nanostructured 1D materials in DSSC application. Various n-type metal oxides such as TiO2, SnO2, ZnO, and WO3 having nanorods morphology for application in DSSCs has been discussed.
