Abstract

Bees reared under UV-light are less sensitive to long wavelength light in phototaxis experiments than are control bees. Electroretinogram measurements indicate that selective reduction in spectral sensitivity is related to smaller lamina potentials to green light. Histological investigation of synapse frequency of green sensitive photoreceptor terminals reveal a decrease in number of synapses due to the selective wavelength deprivation.
