Abstract
Neonatal meningitis carries a high risk for neurological sequelae, and Escherichia coli(E. coli) is one of the leading causes of neonatal early-onset meningitis. Studies suggest that cerebral infarcts occur more frequently in neonates with group B streptococcus meningitis than in neonates with E. coli. We present two cases of neonatal E. coli meningitis with territorial infarctions supplied by large, medium, and small-sized vessels. The importance of obtaining vascular imaging with brain MRI in neonates with meningitis is highlighted. Potential management strategies for infectious vasculopathy in neonates are discussed.
