The article discusses "Scientific American's" documentation of the World War One in 1914-1918. Topics include coverage of Germany's declaration of war on Russia and France and the invasion of Belgium in the August 15, 1914 issue, the German's use of toxic chlorine gas in the June 12, 1915 issue, and American wartime sentiment following Germany's torpedoing of the civilian ocean liner the RMS Lusitania in the May 15, 1915 issue.
