Abstract
Hay fechas que no pueden quedar en el olvido de los gineco-obstetras, una de ellas es el 17 de agosto. Hace 100 años, el Profesor Constantino T. Carvallo, ilustre módico y profesor sanmarquino inició la enseñanza de la ginecología para los Alumnos de Medicina de la Facultad de Medicina de San Fernando. El inicio de ese apostolado fue en una pequeña Sala llamada Las Mercedes, construida con su peculio en el antiguo Real Hospital de Santa Ana, localizado donde actualmente funciona el Instituto Materno Perinatal (Hospital de Maternidad de Lima).
