Abstract
To support integrated services, an ATM switch must be capable of handling the requirements of different services. In this Letter we introduce a two-class priority scheme to the knockout switch (KS) and the generalised knockout switch (GKS). The priority switches achieve a much lower loss rate of high-priority cells than no-priority switches. Using the priority scheme in the GKS is more efficient than in the KS to reduce the interconnect complexity of the switch.
