Abstract
Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries are cited commonly for their potential to be offshoring locations, both because of key skills and competitive costs. Based on population data from the UN Population Division and the International Labor Organization we project skilled labor force up to 2050 in four CEE countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Russia. Our study finds that the ultimate demographic prognosis for Eastern European countries is not very optimistic. Although the CEE region has the potential to be an attractive offshoring destination, the area's shrinking labor force may dim its prospects.
