Abstract
Objective To observe the efficacy of catgut implantation at Shu- and Mu-acupoints combined with moxibustion in the treatment of chronic colitis.Methods 60 patients were randomly assigned to receive catgut implantation at dachangshu,tianshu,pishu,and shenshu in combination with moxibustion of Shenque ( 40 patients,study group ) or oral sulfasalazine ( 20 patients,control group ).Results After three courses of treatment,the total effectiveness rate did not differ significantly between the study group and the control group ( 95% vs.95% ).Conclusions Catgut implantation at Shu- and Mu-acupoints combined with moxibustion is simple,feasible,and efficacious in the treatment of chronic colitis.It is a safe,novel external therapy.
