Abstract

The activity and selectivity of reduced Cu−Y zeolites containing acidic sites either only of Bronsted or only of Lewis type suggest that the Lewis acid sites are active in the cracking of butanes and neopentane, while both Lewis acid and Lewis base sites are involved in the mechanism of the dehydrogenation of these reactants.
