Abstract

Mn salen complexes immobilized on nanosilicagel was prepared by incorporating Mn salen complexes into a nanosilica matrix characterized by TGA, XRD, and atomic absorption spectroscopy. This catalyst can be successfully applied as a reusable catalyst for the oxidation of sulfides. Oxidation of a series of sulfides in water as a green solvent over immobilized Mn salen complex with TBAO as oxidant resulted in the corresponding sulfoxides selectively in moderate to high yields. The catalyst has been reused several times, without observable loss of activity and selectivity.
