Abstract

In the paper, optimization of production order execution in a production company is suggested. Until now, decisions regarding prioritization of orders were made by people. Therefore, in this research, comparison of a human-based method and two algorithm methods was performed, in order to find optimal set of production orders. Tabu Search and Greedy algorithms were selected. The aim of the described case study was maximization of profit and production of selected orders. Costs of turning tools were taken under consideration, which made the case more complex. In order to choose the best method of solving this case, real historical data from the company were collected concerning orders from the considered period of time. Moreover, basing on the same data, Greedy and Tabu Search algorithms were prepared. Finally, all the two methods were compared and, in conclusion, Tabu Search solutions acquired highest profit for the whole tested period.
