Abstract

The management of progressive ulcerative keratitis in dogs is briefly discussed in this case report. An eight-and-half-year-old neutered female, diabetic Shih Tzu was presented for ophthalmology referral with a one-week history of ulcerative keratitis affecting the right eye. A diagnosis of a progressive corneal stromal ulcer with associated keratomalacia was made, likely associated with bilateral keratoconjunctivitis sicca and diabetes mellitus. Successful management comprised initial intensive medical therapy followed by surgical intervention.
