This study examines the role of perceived overqualification as a mediator in the relationship between career adaptability and turnover intention among employees of PT. Kimia Farma Diagnostika. Involving 80 respondents, this study uses a quantitative approach and SEM-PLS analysis. The results show that career adaptability has a positive effect on turnover intention, where perceived overqualification functions as a mediator. Employees who feel they have higher abilities than needed tend to seek opportunities that are more in line with their potential, which increases the intention to leave the organization. These findings provide important insights for management in designing more effective employee retention strategies, as well as enrich the literature by combining these concepts. By understanding the factors that influence employees' decisions to stay or move, management can develop policies that increase job satisfaction and reduce turnover rates. This study also identifies limitations, such as the limited number of respondents, and suggests further research.

Objectives: The research focuses on the high turnover intention ratio in the East Java banking sector. The aim is to explore the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in reducing employee turnover by considering thriving at work (TW) and career adaptability (CA). This research highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and its positive effects through training programs to reduce Turnover Intentions (TOI).Methodology: This research used an explanatory quantitative method involving 105 frontline employees. The sample used a saturated sampling method. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to all frontliners, with 103 questionnaires returned. The data were analyzed using the SEM-PLS method.Finding: The result found that EI does not directly influence frontline employees' desire for TOI. Nonetheless, employees with high levels of EI tend to thrive more at work, reducing their desire for TOI. The ability to develop and adapt in the work environment can be a more significant factor in reducing TOI.Conclusion: EI is important in reducing the TOI of Bank frontline employees. Employees with high EI can better develop and adapt to a stressful work environment, reducing TOI and increasing well-being and commitment to self-development.

  • Tang Meirun + 4 more

Contemporary migrant workers from rural areas demonstrate high turnover behaviors in China and pose substantial threats to China's economic growth. This study aimed to explore the causes of this short-term employment from the perspective of individual dispositions in terms of career adaptability. This study investigated organization embeddedness and organizational identification as underpinning mechanisms linking career adaptability to turnover intention. The hypotheses explanations were provided according to the Conservation of Resources theory. Survey data were collected from 379 migrant workers from rural areas in the manufacturing sectors of China, and the structural equation modeling technique was used to find the range of outcomes. The empirical results demonstrate that career adaptability does not meaningfully predict turnover intention but is positively and significantly related to organization embeddedness and organizational identification. Organization embeddedness and organizational identification both negatively and significantly predicted turnover intention and also played as a conciliator in the association between career adaptability and turnover intention. Our results suggest management and human resource specialists can directly influence the turnover intention of contemporary rural migrant workers via paying attention to these two critical factors, namely, organization embeddedness and organizational identification.

Applying career construction theory, this study develops and tests a research model that investigates whether career adaptability mediates the effect of work social support on career satisfaction and turnover intentions. Data obtained from frontline hotel employees with a 2-week time lag in three waves in Nigeria were used to assess the previously mentioned relationships. The results from structural equation modeling suggest that work social support boosts career adaptability and career satisfaction, while it mitigates turnover intentions. Surprisingly, the results suggest that career adaptability triggers turnover intentions, while it has no bearing on career satisfaction. The results further suggest that career adaptability partially mediates the relationship between work social support and turnover intentions.
