Abstract

AbstractDeveloping sustainable, inexpensive material has been proposed as a promising catalyst. Herein, we report the synthesis of new hybrid material composed of carbon nanoparticles entrapped in iron vanadate. Thus obtained new material was characterized using SEM, PXRD, Raman and XPS.The catalytic potentiality of CNP/FeVO4has been tested in the oxidation of biomass derived hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in an aqueous medium. An enhanced conversion of 5‐HMF to diformylfuran (DFF) is observed in the presence of CNP/FeVO4than FeVO4alone. The absence of expensive metals and using only water as a solvent, along with recyclability of catalyst make our catalytic method green and attractive.
