Abstract
The feasibility of C-C bond formation via the Mitsunobu reaction on solid supports has been investigated. Alkylation of a polymer supported alcohol with various compounds having an active methylene moiety in the presence of TMAD and Bu 3P gave the desired monoalkylated product, as well as an unexpected bis-alkylated product in ratios depending on the substrate loading. A rationalization for the latter is also presented.
