Abstract

A simple technique for the isolation of ceruloplasmin from plasma or Fraction III (containing the proteins of Cohn fraction IV 1) is described. The majority of proteins are precipitated with caprylic acid and crude ceruloplasmin is obtained by adsorption on DEAE-cellulose (DE 52). Ceruloplasmin can be crystallized directly from the crude concentrated eluate. The physicochemical properties of the pure crystallized material are described.
