Abstract

Stimulated by the newly observed ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(6146{)}^{0}$ and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(6152{)}^{0}$ resonances, we investigate the strong decays of the low-lying singly bottom baryons within the quark pair creation model. Considering their masses and decay modes, we tentatively assign these states as the $\ensuremath{\lambda}$-mode ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(2S)$, ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(1D)$, ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{b}(2S)$, and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{b}(1P)$ states and then estimate their strong decay widths. Compared with the experimental total widths and decay modes measured by the LHCb Collaboration, the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(6146{)}^{0}$ and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(6152{)}^{0}$ can be reasonably clarified into the ${J}^{P}=5/{2}^{+}$ and ${J}^{P}=3/{2}^{+}$ ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}(1D)$ states, respectively, while other canonical assignments are disfavored. Other low-lying bottom states are also presented, where various narrow states may have good potential to be observed in future LHCb experiments.

INTRODUCTION

The LHCb Collaboration reported the discovery of two new singly bottom baryons Λbð6146Þ0 and Λbð6152Þ0 in the Λ0bπþπ− invariant mass distribution [1]. Considering the mass uncertainties predicted by the quark model, we find that these two resonances lie in the mass region of the predicted λ-mode Λbð2SÞ, Λbð1DÞ, Σbð2SÞ, and Σbð1PÞ states To clarify their nature, the strong decays of these assignments should be examined carefully. A short summary is presented in the last section In this calculation, the 3P0 quark pair creation model is adopted to investigate the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-allowed two-body strong decays of the excited Λb and Σb states. The γ 1⁄4 9.83 is obtained by reproducing the width Γ1⁄2Σcð2520Þþþ → ΛcπþŠ 1⁄4 14.78 MeV [7,41] With these parameters, the calculated decay widths of the ground states Σb and ΣÃb to Λbπ are shown, which agree with the experimental data well The calculated decay widths of the ground states Σb and ΣÃb to Λbπ are shown in Table II, which agree with the experimental data well
