Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reveal the features of Canada as an original historical phenomenon. The author believes that Canada can be considered an original historical phenomenon of the Western or North American type. Relying on the comparative historical methodology and the interdisciplinary approach, the author identifies the key features of Canada as a historical phenomenon. These include the presence of a French-Canadian distinctive component, British and American influence, as well as its northernness.
