Abstract
A diffusion battery specifically designed for use with ultrafine aerosols is described. The instrument, the Glass Capillary Array Filter diffusion battery, is capable of making rapid measurements over a wide range of fractional penetrations. Glass capillary array filters are characterized by high porosities (∼60%), and very uniform pore diameters and lengths. The calibration of this instrument using monodisperse aerosols, as well as the measurement of the distribution parameters of a polydisperse aerosols are described.
