Abstract

A first degree one-dimensional finite-elemet analysis is used for the calculation of coupling coefficients between two dielectric resonators placed axisymmetrically in a cylindrical tube. The method is very simple and can be applied for the design of dielectric-loaded cavity filters. Calculation of coupling coefficients is based on computing the resonant frequencies of the resonators whose symmetry plane is replaced with electric and magnetic walls. The advantage of the method is its capability to calculate the desired paramters of cavity filters for all modes. Comparing the calculated coupling coefficients with those obtained by measurement shows an excellent agreement.
