Abstract

This paper proposes a general procedure for calculating steady-state failure frequency of complex power systems with 2-state components. The procedure is based on a simple summation of the frequencies of all transitions that leave the cumulative up states of the system. The overlapping of the system links failure and the unreliable busbars is considered. The general formula for system's failure frequency is presented. Any other independent or dependent events of the link status can be included. An illustrative example is included.
