Abstract

The emission control of CO_2 in coal thermal power generation is one of the important problems due to the rise of public opinion in Japan and overseas to the global warming prevention. Electric companies are promoting counter-measures like the improvement of generation efficiency and the introduction of biomass as a fuel against this problem. In these measures, one of prospective measures is the CO_2 capture and storage (CCS) technology. However, if the power generation system with CO_2 capture which has already been developed is introduced, large decrease of power generation efficiency as well as rise of power generating cost is unavoidable. Therefore the development of a new highly efficient power generation systems are preferred. We have proposed highly efficient integrated coal gasification combined cycle system equipped with CO_2 capture, and analyzed its heat and mass balance. As a result, it has been found that the system accomplishes nearly 59% gross thermal efficiency (HHV) using a 1573K class regenerative gas turbine system.
