Abstract

We show that an explicit symmetry breaking of the N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory through the addition of mass terms does not disturb the finiteness of the vacua energy to any order, provided the mass terms satisfy the additional mass sum rule ∑ J = 0, 1 2 (2J + 1)(−1) 2Jm J 4 = 0 .
