Abstract
This letter presents a broadband triangular shaped patch antenna with a folded shorting wall. The effect of the folded shorting wall is studied and a modified patch shape is proposed. A stable gain of 6.4 dBi is found over a bandwidth of 28.1% (for S11<-10 dB). The proposed antenna exhibits 48% area reduction and 34% bandwidth enhancement when comparing with the conventional (half-wave or full-wave) rectangular patch antenna.
