Abstract
Presented is the investigation of a broadband millimeter-wave log-periodic toothed antenna (LPTA) with an integrated impedance transforming feed structure. The feed structure provides a broadband impedance match to standard 50 Ω system impedance while in the same plane as the radiating structure, resulting in an entirely 2D implementation of the LPTA. Rogers 5880 (∊ <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">r</inf> =2.2, tanδ=0.0009) is used as the design substrate. A finite-element solver (Ansys HFSS) is used to carry out simulation of the structure to demonstrate an input match of S <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf> < −10 dB starting from 22.8 GHz and extending outward beyond 60 GHz with a peak realized gain of 7.48 dBi.
