Abstract
The sickness of jaundice is intricate. The cause of jaundice is a high bilirubin level in the body. Jaundice commonly manifests as skin, mucous membranes, and skin that are yellow. Pre-hepatic jaundice is caused by hemolysis of red blood cells, hepatic jaundice is caused by a problem with the liver's ability to collect, conjugate, and excrete bilirubin, and post-hepatic jaundice is caused by the obstruction of the extra hepatobiliary system. When bilirubin is metabolised, red blood cells (RBCs) go through hemolysis and release haemoglobin as a result. Heme is broken down by the heme oxygenase in the reticuloendothelial system into biliverdin and carbon monoxide. Then, biliverdin is converted into unconjugated bilirubin by the enzyme biliverdin reductase. Jaundice typically manifests as extreme weakness, fever and a headache, decrease in appetite, extremely constipated, Nausea, urine, tongue, skin, and eyes that are all yellow, dull discomfort near the liver. In the entire world, liver disease is one of the leading causes of illness and mortality. The total number of liver disease-related deaths in India reached 2.95%, per W.H.O. data released in 2017. One in five Indians may have a liver disorder. The aetiology, causes, symptoms, and combination therapy of jaundice are covered in this review study.
