Bridging Robotics Implementation and Operational Efficiency via Agile Management: Evidence from Commercial Residential Projects

Unlocking operational efficiency gains from construction robotics (CR) in commercial residential projects (CRPs) hinges critically on agile management rather than technology deployment alone. We propose the Construction Robotics Agile Success Model (CR-ASM), which formalizes feedback-driven, subproject-level mechanisms that convert localized CR productivity into project-wide gains. To test CR-ASM, we analyze 224 CRPs across 37 Chinese provinces using a dual-stage methodology combining partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and artificial neural networks (ANNs). Key findings reveal that time/budget/security constraints significantly compel top management commitment (β=0.723), which is the most significant driver of project success (β=0.702) through the sociotechnical capabilities of middle management. By contrast, direct CR work efficiency demonstrates a negligible influence on management commitment, positioning robotics as a catalyst rather than a direct efficiency driver. Multigroup analysis indicates core management pathways remain statistically indifferent between CR adopters and nonadopters, underscoring the primacy of agile practices. Complementary ANN results confirm project success as the overwhelming predictor of operational efficiency (57% normalized importance), validating the model’s nonlinear dynamics. By bridging technology and organizational strategy, CR-ASM advances understanding of how the construction management field can achieve project-wide efficiency gains and provides an empirical foundation for future research in construction engineering and management.

The Productivity–Safety Nexus: The Impact of Human Factors on Operational Efficiency in Construction Projects

This paper explores the relationship between human factors in construction safety and their effects on operational efficiency. It investigates how safety incidents resulting from human errors influence productivity, project timelines, and overall costs, while examining how strategic safety management can improve organizational performance. The study employs a mixed-methods design that combines quantitative statistical modeling with qualitative case analysis to ensure both empirical rigor and contextual depth (R2 = 0.87, p < 0.001). Data were drawn from four construction firms, encompassing a sample of 120 employees across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. Variables such as training hours, fatigue levels, safety compliance, and technology adoption were analyzed against key operational performance indicators, including rework hours, schedule adherence, and productivity scores. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 29 and AMOS 28, incorporating descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and mediation testing to examine the pathways linking human factors, safety performance, and operational productivity. Reliability and validity were confirmed through Cronbach’s alpha and variance inflation factor (VIF) diagnostics. Results demonstrate that safety compliance acts as a mediating variable connecting training, fatigue, and technology adoption to measurable business outcomes. By providing a quantitative framework that links human factor management to operational efficiency, this research contributes to both construction management theory and practice, emphasizing safety as a strategic driver of performance and competitiveness.

A Framework for Enhancing Project Management Competency in the Construction Sector

The success of the construction sector is dependent on its diverse workforce and its role in driving growth. India’s economy is significantly tied to construction, especially residential and commercial projects. Effective project management relies on technical, knowledge-based, and soft skills. Realistic management techniques and stakeholder relationships are vital for success. The transition from construction to operations occurs during the handover phase. Developing project management competence is crucial in the midst of failures and delays. This study aims to improve Indian construction through a model developed through an online survey of civil engineering, architecture, and project management professionals. Factor analysis identifies key success factors grouped into project management competency, environmental factors, financial viability, operational efficiency, and structural safety. Recommendations involve the adoption of technology such as BIM, skill enhancement, and sustainability promotion, which can address sectoral challenges and support Indian construction growth. Further research is suggested for industries and global construction contexts. Insights are relevant for Indian construction professionals.

The Impact of Internet Tools on Building an Organization's E-Image: A Case Study

Purpose:The aim of this article is to examine the impact of Internet tools and AI-based solutions on shaping the e-image of an organization.In particular, their role in supporting agile enterprise management was analyzed.Design/Methodology/Approach: The article uses a qualitative approach based on the analysis of the subject literature and a case study of LPP SA.The study was conducted using the desk research method using secondary data from industry reports, company sources and scientific publications. Findings: The results of the analysis indicate that the integration of e-marketing tools, mobile technologies and artificial intelligence contributes to strengthening the e-image and increases the effectiveness of communication with the customer. A positive impact of these tools on increasing operational flexibility and efficiency of decision-making in the organization was also identified. Practical Implications:The research results can be a basis for designing a digital transformation strategy focused on building lasting relationships with customers and developing an organizational culture based on the principles of agility.Practical recommendations can be used by managers interested in implementing digital tools in a way that is consistent with the strategic goals of the organization.Originality/Value: The article brings cognitive value by linking issues from the field of emarketing, e-image building and agile management, which is a perspective rarely undertaken in the literature to date.The study also provides a specific example of digital tool implementations in market practice, increasing its application usefulness.

Earned Value Management of Commercial Project: A Case Study Of An LPG Bottling Plant

Earned Value Management (EVM) is an important project management tool that integrates cost and schedule for effective assessment of the project performance. The comprehensive literature review indicated that EVM is a widespread tool in traditional residential projects with straightforward budgets and schedules. However, commercial implementation is still underestimated. The lack of well-documented success stories and case studies of the application of EVM in commercial projects is another contribution to the hesitation of the stakeholders. Therefore, one of the primary goals of the current research is to illustrate how the EVM contributes to the accuracy of the forecast, preventive decision-making, and successful project implementation in commercial construction ventures. This research paper represents EVM analysis applied to the commercial construction project, a case study of the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) bottling plant in Rasayani, Maharashtra, India. The initially planned budget was ₹87,478,725 and be implemented in 10 months. However, due to design errors, torrential rains, and inflation-induced cost increases, the project lasted for 14 months, consuming ₹101,822,725. The project was divided into 4 phases for EVM analysis: April – June 2023, July-September 2023, October 2023 – January 2024, and February – May 2024. Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), Cost Variance (CV), Schedule Variance (SV) are used to measure performance. The performed analysis identified that CPI and SPI ranged from 0.60 to 0.91 and 0.41 to 1.00, respectively, indicating cost and schedule overruns in all phases. The findings favor the wider use of EVM within commercial projects since they confirm its high effectiveness in project control and successful completion.

Abstract. The article provides for the consideration and definition of the methodological basis for determining the risks of stages of the current implementation of a construction and investment project in the conditions of external changes. Classical optimization methods for reducing the construction period of complex residential and commer-cial real estate projects involve the use of parallel methods on two technologically identical works with an increased flow reversal period. In previous areas of scientific research, examples of balancing two works by using special and universal machines with specialized specialists or complex teams were given, and technical and economic indicators were determined for the performed optimization. From the point of view of consideration of construction objects by customers - investors of construction projects or development projects, the traditional approach to investment design is usually considered, where the investment and construction project is considered as "an object of a financial transaction, which is associated with the distribution of financial receipts and expenses over time." Accordingly, the essence of investment design within the framework of traditional practice is reduced to the projection of cash flows of the construction of the facility into the future for the duration of the investment period and the total period of construction of real estate objects. The result of scientific research will be the construction of such a projection of external changes on the financial plan of the investment and construction project, which should be based on forecast reports on cash flows and financial results according to the schedule of construction work. Risk accounting in the management of investment and construction and commercial projects was considered by such scientists as V. Shapiro, S. Bushuev, V. Morozov, M. Doroshenko. The purpose of the article is to further study the essence of the impact of the external nature of the risk of an investment and construction project, both technological and financial, and the impact of risk on determining the effectiveness of the investment project, regarding the use of the theory of utility for managing the risks of implementing investment and construction projects. Analyzing the effectiveness of an investment project, scientists note that the financial plan as part of an investment and construction project belongs to future periods and is predictive in nature. In turn, neither future results nor the amount of potential future costs are completely known. Thus, the so-called calcu-lations of unforeseen risks appear. In many cases, this issue arises when determining the effectiveness of an investment and construction project, when the investor determines the risk acceptable to him in order to obtain the expected result without affecting the construction process.

Application Of Leagile Theory In Construction Industry To Improve Value-creating Activities

This study explores the integration of Lean and Agile methodologies, known as “Leagile”, in the construction industry. Lean construction emphasizes continuous workflow and process optimization to reduce waste, while Agile management embraces the inevitability of change, promoting continuous discovery and learning throughout a project’s lifecycle. Clearly, both approaches require effective communication with project stakeholders and customers to enable iterative improvements. In recent years, the concept of “Leagile”— blending these two methodologies — has already been successfully applied in various sectors such as manufacturing and supply chain management. However, in the construction industry, the hybridization of Lean and Agile management is still in its early stages. Initial experiments in this area have shown promising potential and opened up a wide range of new possibilities in construction management. This paper contributes to the increasing body of work on Leagile, especially in relation to construction, by proposing a framework for its implementation and assessing the viability of this management paradigm. A case study involving a single-family residential unit project illustrates this novel method’s application in a practical setting.

Computer-Aided Interaction Design for Digital Media and AI Animation

The 21st century has witnessed an unprecedented acceleration in digital technology, significantly impacting various industries, particularly animation design. This paper critically synthesizes literature from the past five years to explore how computer-aided design (CAD) and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping the animation industry by enhancing production efficiency, expanding creative boundaries, and influencing audience acceptance. Through a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, the author analyzes 20 commercial animation projects produced between 2019 and 2023, comparing traditional workflows with those integrating AI/CAD technologies. The author's findings indicate that AI and CAD tools not only reduce time and cost, but also enhance artistic innovation and viewer engagement. Specifically, AI-driven rendering pipelines and procedural modeling have shown significant improvements in operational efficiencies and creative outcomes. This study provides insights into maintaining core creative values while harnessing technological advancements for future innovations in animation design.

This study explores the digital transformation journey of PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam through theimplementation of its Smart Factory Program, grounded in the principles of industry 4.0. Using a qualitativelibrary research method, data were gathered from books, scientific journals, and official company sources toanalyze how the integration of digital technologies addresses critical operational challenges. The study identifieskey issues such as insufficient oversight of performance, frequent equipment failures, and the need for scalabledigital solutions across facilities. The tourism and hospitality industry are undergoing a transformation with the expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social robots, aiming to enhance customer service, operational efficiency, and overall guest experiences. This paper explores the roles, customer service, operational efficiency, benefits, challenges, and personalization of social robots. Moreover, this study involves a detailed survey with 14 top executives in the tourism and hospitality industry, focusing on their familiarity with, attitudes towards, and potential adoption of social robots in their operations. The objective is to show the industry’s current readiness for technological integration and predict the future impact of social robots on enhancing customer experiences and operational practices in the sector. This paper explores the practical implementation of social robots in tourism and hospitality while forecasting their future role in shaping the industry. Using models like the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the theory of planned behavior, it examines how industry executives are responding to AI-driven robotics. PT XYZ is a construction company specializing in planning and executing residential and commercial projects. To support project management, administration, and customer services, this study developed an information system using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach. RAD was selected for its advantage in accelerating system development through an iterative, user-focused process. The resulting system features online booking, project status tracking, and digital payment, designed to improve operational efficiency and service transparency. Evaluation results indicate that the system successfully integrates various functions, minimizes administrative errors, and expedites business processes. This implementation provides significant benefits for PT XYZ by enhancing service quality and competitiveness in the digital era.

During the war, Ukrainian business models underwent strategic changes, adapting to the conditions of uncertainty and high levels of riskiness, which included cost optimization, new logistics flows, hybrid work format, energy savings, safety-oriented management, transformation of quality management and the introduction of innovations to remain competitive. The article is aimed at studying innovative strategies and approaches to adapting Ukrainian business models and quality management systems in conditions of uncertainty, in particular during the war, to ensure their sustainability and competitiveness. The article emphasizes that during the war, Ukrainian companies are forced to look for new sources of profit, applying diversification strategies, introducing innovative approaches, digitalization, agile management models, short-term planning, redistribution of roles and responsibilities, as well as new technologies to ensure the competitiveness and efficiency of operations. The features of quality management during the wartime period are outlined and it is noted that companies face supply disruptions, production problems, changes in the assortment, psychological difficulties of employees, economic challenges, the need to maintain high quality standards and communication with customers, which requires the implementation of alternative strategies, such as the search for new suppliers, the creation of raw material stocks, the introduction of backup energy sources, the retraining of staff, development of new products, psychological support for employees, cost optimization, investment in effective technologies, implementation of quality management systems, regular audits, informing customers and the use of digital technologies. It is determined that Ukrainian companies are forced to quickly adapt to new conditions, using strategies of supplier diversification, the introduction of digital technologies, agility in production and product range, support for employees and ensuring their safety, as well as constant monitoring of market conditions and competitors.
