Abstract

This reprint of Che Guevara's Guerrilla Warfare highlighted by an introduction and case studies by Brian Loveman and Thomas Davies Jr is timely. The first edition was published at a time when Che Guevara's Guerrilla Warfare had gone out of print and the second wave of guerrilla warfare in Latin America had taken root. This edition arrives at a vastly different juncture in Latin American history; nonetheless it is highly provocative. The year 1997 marked the 30th anniversary of Che's death and the recovery of his body. It was also the year in which the Guatemalan guerrillas finalised their peace accord with their government, among the last of the Latin American nations to formalise a peace process long underway in the hemisphere.
