Abstract

A 2-year-old boy was brought to the emergency department with irritability and intractable crying following a pedestrian-motorcycle accident. On arrival, the patient was tachycardic (160 beats/min) and tachypneic (26 breaths/min). The physical examination did not show any bruises or deformities of the chest wall. Laboratory studies revealed elevated levels of creatine kinase MB (108.1 ng/mL) and troponin I (10.912 ng/mL). Chest radiography showed an ill-defined opacity in the right lower lung (Figure 1).
