Abstract
Abstract: In response to instructions by the Critical Art Ensemble to “commit a crime with a humanitarian outcome,” Toronto-based artist Diane Borsato decided to steal flowers from neighbours’ gardens and give the bouquet as a surprise gift to her mother. This photo-essay follows her through this and other acts of floral repurposing, collectively titled Bouquet (2006–ongoing), as an aesthetic act.
