Abstract

Abstract Every year a plethora of books about the teaching of reading is published for use by parents, teachers and other educators. The books range from the simple to the complex, the very practical to the highly theoretical, the “easy to read, easy to understand” to the overwhelmingly complicated. Perhaps this is as it should be, for parents and educators, just like children, vary in their stages of development and readiness to understand and assimilate new material. Thus, this edition contains reviews of books related to the teaching of reading, which range from the easy-to-read single approach of Feathers in My Cap: Early Reading Through Experience (Ellen Cromwell), through the relatively simplistic review of information offered in The Principal's Role in Improving Reading (Sacher, Manning and Manning), to the extremely complex, research-based book Reading: The Patterning of Complex Behavior (Marie M.
