Introduction. The international publication is now a requirement for graduate students. It is part of the strategy of higher education institutions to improve their quality and compete at the global level. Hence, their intention to develop academic networks and their level of acceptance at the international level. Accordingly, this study seeks to investigate the mediation role of reward and psychological capital on stress relations and student effort for international joint publications. Materials and Methods. There are 421 master and doctoral students employed in this research. The data collected by questionnaire. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to analyze the data. Results. The results show that the reward and psychological capital mediate the effect of stress on the student effort for international joint publication. The overall analysis shows that stress does not affect the student effort for international joint publication. Hence the mediation analysis is necessary for explaining the evidence of the stress-effort relationship. The reward is found significantly mediated by the stress-effort relationship and stress-psychological relationship, and the psychological shows a significant effect on the reward-effort relationship. The model of this study represents the joint mediation effect of rewards and psychological capital on the stress-effort relationship in the satisfactorily model of compliance. Discussion and Conclusion. This finding makes researchers develop the integrated behavioral model of stress-effort relationship by using various behavioral mechanisms in order to extend student achievement on international publication.

  • Ha Thi Hai Do

This research is based on expectancy theory to investigate “internal attraction” and “external attraction” and integrate “belief” into the research framework that motivates lecturers to publish their research. Findings of regression analysis from a sample of 475 lecturers in business and economics have revealed that lecturers are motivated by both “internal attraction” and “external attraction”; however, the impact of “internal attraction” is stronger than that of “external attraction” on international publication but weaker on national publication. Belief is found not to influence motivation for national research publications, but negatively influences motivation for international research publications. The research results also reveal that the motivation for international research publications of professors and associate professors is higher than the motivation of other lecturers, irrespective of age and gender. Based on the research results, proper implications for policies to foster motivation for international and national research publications have been suggested for developing countries with constant changes in science and education.

ObjectiveThe significant increase in the number of COVID-19 publications, on the one hand, and the strategic importance of this subject area for research and treatment systems in the health field, on the other hand, reveals the need for text-mining research more than ever. The main objective of the present paper is to discover country-based publications from international COVID-19 publications with text classification techniques.MethodsThe present paper is applied research that has been performed using text-mining techniques such as clustering and text classification. The statistical population is all COVID-19 publications from PubMed Central® (PMC), extracted from November 2019 to June 2021. Latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) was used for clustering, and support vector machine (SVM), scikit-learn library, and Python programming language were used for text classification. Text classification was applied to discover the consistency of Iranian and international topics.ResultsThe findings showed that seven topics were extracted using the LDA algorithm for international and Iranian publications on COVID-19. Moreover, the COVID-19 publications show the largest share in the subject area of “Social and Technology in COVID-19” at the international (April 2021) and national (February 2021) levels with 50.61% and 39.44%, respectively. The highest rate of publications at international and national levels was in April 2021 and February 2021, respectively.ConclusionOne of the most important results of this study was discovering a common trend and consistency of Iranian and international publications on COVID-19. Accordingly, in the topic category “Covid-19 Proteins: Vaccine and Antibody Response,” Iranian publications have a common publishing and research trend with international ones.

A Discussion About the “Geopark” Terminology Use Based on Turkish Researchers’ Conceptual Perceptions of Their Publications
  • Feb 12, 2025
  • Geoheritage
  • Hüseyin Turoğlu

Differences are conspicuous in the perception of some terms of geopark terminology such as geosite, geoheritage, geoconservation, and geodiversity in the publications of Turkish researchers, as well as in international research and publications on geoparks. This different perception hinders the unity of language in geopark studies and causes confusion in conceptual expression. This study aims to understand and discuss the meaning and conceptual perceptions of the main geopark terms of Turkish researchers by analyzing their geopark-themed studies and national/international publications. In the analysis, a total of 100 publications of Turkish researchers, 71 national and 29 international publications on geopark themes published after the referee process were evaluated. The 100 publications were classified according to the origin of the author’s discipline, whether the publication was national or international, cited publications related to the basic concepts of geoparks, and the conceptual meaning in the most cited publications and the conceptual perception in the articles were discussed. The results of the analysis highlighted the following findings. There is no common perception in the use of the prefix Geo in Geopark terminology on a national scale and the prefix Geo is perceived differently between Turkish geologists and geographer authors. It is understood that Turkish geographers generally use terms such as geoheritage, geosite, geodiversity, geoconservation, etc., in their national and international publications. While Turkish geologist authors mostly use the prefix Geo in their international publications, they prefer the terms geological heritage, geological site, geological diversity, geological protection, etc., for the same basic concepts in their national publications. The use of basic geopark terms in the articles of authors with other backgrounds is mainly similar to the approach of authors with geology background. The conclusion of this discussion is that the difference in conceptual perception of geopark terms is a problem for the geopark integrity strategy, and that it would be better to ensure linguistic unity with terminology such as geosite, geoheritage, geoconservation, and geodiversity.

The objective of this study was to analyze the international insertion of scientific production in the Accounting Sciences area developed in Brazil, in addition to identify other attributes that can enhance the international publication. Thereunto, information were collected from the Curricula Lattes of 236 researchers, derived from two groups: (i) doctors from the PhD program on Accounting of the University of Sao Paulo; and (ii) professors linked to 16 national stricto sensu post-graduation programs Accounting Sciences. The option was to analyze the international scientific production of the mentioned groups since it was believed that these are responsible for great part of the national and international publications developed in the Accounting area. After some exclusions, it was arrived to a total of 236 professors to be analyzed. The collected information comprised the whole period of the professor's curriculum (that is, from the beginning of the curriculum) until 2009 and referred to: international and national publication, accomplishment of sandwich PhD and post-doctorate, participation in research groups, orientations completed and PhD course concluded. The main results showed that the professors published 308 articles in international journals and 3,561 articles in national journals; 42 professors had completed post-doctorate degree, most of them at North American institutions; 84% of the professors participate in or act as research groups leaders; the average of master's degree orientations was of 12 students and of PhD's only one student. Although the study is focused on the quantification of publications performed by for the professors in the accounting area, the important question of the quality of the studies is well known, which must be pursued by any researcher, regardless of his area of performance.

Advantages and pitfalls of South Africa-Angola strategic alliances
  • Dec 7, 2010
  • Acta Commercii
  • A J Vogel + 1 more

Purpose: Owing to a shortage of South African research focusing on international strategic alliances, this study aimed to determine whether the advantages and pitfalls of international strategic alliances referred to in international business publications are also applicable to South African international strategic alliances. Design/Methodology/Approach: This was a formal, empirical study that targeted the 163 South African enterprises which were members of the South African-Angolan Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and 2006. Findings: The results identified joint ventures as the most prominent mode of entry when expanding into developing countries and, with few exceptions, the findings support the advantages and pitfalls of international strategic alliances identified in other international publications. Value of the research: A great deal of international management research over the years has been focused on the importance of strategic alliances as a mode of entry, as well as on the pitfalls experienced by alliance partners, particularly in developed countries. However, the lack of such research in Africa in general and South Africa in particular means that South African enterprises must base their entry mode selection on non-South African research findings, and although this sample size was small, the lack of other Africa-specific research makes this research significant. Implications: With South Africa being the largest source of FDI into the rest of Africa, the findings of this paper show that South African enterprises can attain the advantages associated with international strategic alliances when using this mode of entry into Africa. In terms of pitfalls, the findings highlight the need for multinational enterprises to pay specific attention to the role of governments when forming strategic alliances.

The Impact of Policy: How Scientific Publication Policy and Socio-Economics Status Affect Motivation and Types of Publication Among Graduate Students
  • Apr 1, 2019
  • International Journal of Educational Research Review
  • Rochman Hadi Mustofa + 2 more

Scientific publication policies have been implemented as an effort to increase the level of scientific publications. This is because the abundance of academia in Indonesia were not in line with the number of scientific publications, especially international publications. Through policies made by the government in collaboration with universities/colleges that administer education units, it is expected that there will be an increase in scientific publications, especially at the international level. The policy has been going well with the increasing level of international scientific publications in the last 5 years, but not all are at the international level. The author analysed the effect of the scientific publication policy combined with socio-economic status, as the exogenous variable, to find out the effect on scientific publications, as the endogenous variable. Motivation are used as the mediator between variables. Data were collected from 242 graduate students in Central Java Province, Indonesia, who had already submitted or published their articles. The data were analysed using a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) application, SmartPLS 3. The results indicate that (1) perception of scientific publication policy has significant and positive effect on the motivation, but insignificant on types of publications, (2) socioeconomic status has significant and positive effects on the types of publication, both direct and indirect effects, and (3) motivation has a significant effect on the types of publication which can be used as a mediator that has a significant effect

ANÁLISE QUALITATIVA DAS PUBLICAÇÕES NACIONAIS E INTERNACIONAIS EM ETNOGRAFIAS EM ADMINISTRAÇÃO E ESTUDOS ORGANIZACIONAIS
  • Jun 30, 2013

  • Chen Yen-Tsang + 2 more
