Introduction

Africa is facing numerous internal and external challenges that prevent it from developing towards an Africa that God wants. The first chapter, “Why do we need African public theology?”, is written by Agang (2020:3-14), who discusses the following themes: Disconnection between Christian life and public life; the poor concept of the church, clergy-centred ministry, and passive laity; fear of each other, poor African leadership, and poor educational approach.
