Abstract

During a l-month period, two patients were admitted under the trauma service at the Tel Aviv Medical Center after sustaining blunt abdominal injuries in the workplace. Both patients presented with a similar history of working with an industrial floor-polishing machine used in routine cleaning and waxing of non-carpeted surfaces. Correct implementation of the manufacturer’s instructions concerning the use of this machinery could have prevented these injuries. Feedback from hospital trauma units to the workplace can bring to light inadequacies therein and so help to reduce occupational trauma.
