Abstract

The main anti-Stokes fluorescence observed for CsCdBr3 : Er3+, Yb3+ under infrared excitation arises from the Er3+4F7/2 level (around 490 nm). The concentration dependence of the up-conversion efficiency exhibits a maximum for a very low concentration of Yb3+ ions. This result is discussed taking into account the dependence of4F7/2 transients on Yb3+ concentration and the possibility of mixed pairs formation.
